In recognition of National Nurses Week (May 6-12), the Winter Park Health Foundation released a video highlighting the organization’s long-term investment in career development, training and education opportunities for nurses and nursing leaders at AdventHealth Winter Park.

Earlier this year, WPHF presented AdventHealth leaders with $87,890 to fund a series of targeted local conferences to strengthen the hospital’s nursing team. Over 25 years, WPHF has contributed a total of nearly $1.5 million to these efforts through the Nowers and Brunoehler Scholarship Funds.

Investing in nurses has powerful ripple effects. The following are just five high-impact examples.

When we invest in nurses:

  • They grow as leaders.
  • They elevate patient care.
  • They build stronger, happier teams.
  • We take care of them like they take care of our community.
  • They feel seen and supported, because they are.

“It means a lot, because those folks are the people that are taking care of the community, and so as they continue to grow in their individual roles, there’s a larger benefit to all of us,” said WPHF President and CEO Nicholas Abrahams. “We wanted to make sure that we’re taking care of them.”

“We are blessed to have this partnership with the Winter Park Health Foundation,” said AdventHealth Winter Park Chief Nursing Officer Erica Stevens. “These conferences that we hold, the leadership classes, the town halls – we’re teaching, inspiring and growing, not only our current profession, but the nurses for tomorrow.”

It is an honor for the Winter Park Health Foundation to walk alongside our partners at AdventHealth Winter Park to support nurses.

Because when nurses thrive, so does our community.
