WPHF Hosts Eatonville Boys & Girls Club Field Trips
This summer, the Winter Park Health Foundation partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida to provide two unforgettable field trips for students from the Joe R. Lee Branch in Eatonville.
WPHF welcomed the two groups to the Center for Health & Wellbeing to experience firsthand the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
The field trips each consisted of two parts: a high-energy dance tutorial and a hands-on cooking demo in our Nutrition Theatre.
Rianna Pagliaro, a Senior Instructor from the nonprofit Emotions Dance Company, guided the kids through trending choreography as she taught them popular TikTok routines.
For the nutrition portion, Registered Dietitian Allison Harrell led the students visiting in June through a snack-making tutorial.
Offering healthier alternatives to typical after-school foods, Allison showed them how to put together a well-balanced trail mix and a “Banana Sushi” recipe.
The July group learned how to make healthy breakfast burritos under the supportive direction of Celines Martinez, the Nutrition Program Manager for Hebni Nutrition Consultants.
“This is something tangible for them,” shared Celines after the lesson, which included tips and tricks for cooking with heat over the stove. “They can take this away and implement it in their lives, which is what I really love.”
Love for this program was a feeling shared by all involved.
