WPHF is one of three organizations to be recognized as Outstanding Partner in Education
For more than 25 years, the Winter Park Health Foundation (WPHF) has been committed to the health and wellbeing of our communities, with a particular focus on children and families living and working in Eatonville, Maitland and Winter Park.
In acknowledgement of WPHF efforts and ongoing partnership with Orange County Public Schools, the Foundation is one of three organizations being recognized as the Florida Commissioner’s Business Recognition Award recipients and Orange County Public Schools Partners in Education of the Year for 2020-21. The Orlando Magic and Lockheed Martin are also being recognized for their partnerships with OCPS.
WPHF’s partnership with Orange County Public Schools is both long-lasting and high impact. Its Coordinated Youth Initiative (CYI,) a school-based program recognized nationally for its forward-thought and innovation, delivers health and wellbeing services and support to the 11,000 students and families who annually attend the 13 OCPS elementary, middle and high schools in the Foundation’s geographic service area of Eatonville, Maitland and Winter Park, Florida.
CYI programs include the School Nursing Initiative, School-Based Health Centers staffed by Nurse Practitioners, CHILL counseling program and Healthy School Teams. All programs are dedicated to helping local students become the healthiest and most academically productive they can be.
Orange County Public Schools’ Outstanding Partners in Education of the Year are traditionally recognized during an annual ceremony, the Community Outreach Recognition event. In 2021, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Partners in Education program, that event has been renamed ‘The Crystal Awards,’ a nod to Citrine crystal’s association with abundance, joy and optimism. The Crystal Awards virtual program is available for viewing by the public on the OCPS and Foundation for OCPS YouTube pages here.
