WPHF Staff Update

Lisa Portelli, Winter Park Health Foundation Program Director for Community Health, attended a recent day-long conference to discuss the future of Eatonville’s Community Redevelopment Agency at the Florida Association of CRA Redevelopment Professionals office in Longwood. The CRA is responsible for developing and implementing Eatonville’s CRA Plan, including the overall goals for redevelopment in the area, as well as identifying the types of projects planned for the area.

The CRA Board of Directors consists of the members of the Eatonville Town Council and two additional members who must be business owners in the town.

Eatonville’s CRA redevelopment plan is intended to outline comprehensive and coordinated revitalization of the town, basically stop the deterioration and encourage redevelopment of those “blighted” areas, according to Ms. Portelli.

Those attending included Eatonville’s new Chief Administrative officer Roger Dixon, Community Redevelopment Authority (CRA) Attorney Greg Jackson, Vice Mayor Angela Thomas, Healthy Eatonville Team member Michael French and Ms. Portelli, who co-coaches the HET.

The CRA Redevelopment Association encouraged the group to attend since many were new in their positions and the CRA could assist the Healthy Eatonville Team achieve its healthy community goals.
