WPHF Staff: Inspiring Healthy Communities
Diana Silvey, Winter Park Health Foundation (WPHF) Program Director for Older Adults, will be one of the speakers at the October 28 Clergy Appreciation Breakfast sponsored by VITAS Innovative Hospice Care and Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Homes at the Sheraton Orlando North Hotel in Maitland. The annual gathering is expected to draw approximately 80 people, including hospital chaplains and pastoral care staff, pastors, faith community nurses, lay ministers, rabbis, etc. Ms. Silvey will present on The Conversation Project, a public engagement campaign advocating for conversations with family and friends about their end-of-life care.
Debbie Watson, Winter Park Health Foundation (WPHF) Vice President, was part of a panel at the 3rd Annual Florida Chronic Disease Prevention Coalition (FCDPC) summit in October to discuss the roles schools can and do play in promoting good health and healthy living among students and their families. Ms. Watson, Co-Chair of the Orange County School Health & Wellness Council, was joined by representatives from Levy, Manatee and Orange county school districts, as well as the Florida Dairy Council, the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. Approximately 200 stakeholders from around the state attended the summit. Ms. Watson serves as Secretary on the Steering Committee for the FCDPC.
