It’s Back –Announcing the 3rd Annual Mayors’ Sole Challenge on Nov. 1st

131116_236This free, fun, family event will be held on Saturday, November 1st and for the first time, will be held in Maitland at Quinn Strong Park, 345 S. Maitland Avenue.   After generously hosting the event for two years, the City of Winter Park turned over the honors to the City of Maitland.

Sponsored by Healthy Central Florida (HCF), the Mayors’ Sole Challenge is a friendly community competition with $2,500 at stake. The goal is to see which community can bring out the greatest percentage of its residents to the walk, and for the last two years, Eatonville has won the cash prize and bragging rights.  (HCF is a community-based initiative founded by Florida Hospital and the

Winter Park Health Foundation to help create the healthiest community in the U.S.)

HCF also is instituting a “School Challenge” to see which school can bring out the most students and their families to the event. Schools can win cash prizes to be used for healthy school programs and activities.

Once again, the event will include dance-walking, face-painting, blender bikes, and a healthy breakfast for all. There’ll be a DJ, prizes, surprises and loads of healthy fun.  It’s totally free – so invite your entire Zumba class, cheerleading squad, dance studio team, faith group, friends, and neighbors for this unique, family-friendly event.131116_313
