New Published Report Focuses on Faith Community Nursing Initiative
The lessons and successes of the Faith Community Nursing initiative—an effort to establish faith community nursing programs in five local churches with seed funding from the Winter Park Health Foundation (WPHF)–is the focus of a new report published by Florida Hospital Publishing & Creative Productions. Florida Hospital was the WPHF grantee for this initiative.
Called “How to Turn a Healthcare Crisis Into a Health Care Opportunity,” the report provides a history of the parish/faith community nursing in the United States. These nurses include a spiritual dimension to promoting health within the faith community. The report also shares various faith community nursing models and includes resources and tools for establishing a faith community nursing program.
In addition, the report includes an overview of lessons learned in the WPHF-Florida Hospital partnership to establish Faith Community Nursing programs in five local churches based in Winter Park, Maitland and Eatonville.
