Medicare Outreach Continues
With the first open enrollment period for Medicare Part D just around the corner, the Winter Park Health Foundation, the Senior Resource Alliance (SRA), AARP and SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) are once again providing Medicare outreach by hosting Medicare Rx Fairs. The open enrollment period runs from November 15 to December 31, 2006.
Six fairs will be held in the East Central Florida region (including one in Winter Park). These Fairs will provide education, information and opportunities for one-on-one counseling with SHINE volunteers. Some 1,200 Central Floridians attended the first round of Fairs held last fall.
The fairs will give participants to sign up for a first time if they have just turned 65. Those already enrolled can learn about program changes and explore and change to new plans that might provide better, more economical coverage than their existing plans.
They will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Winter Park, from 9 a.m. to noon on November 27; the Taft Community Center, Orlando, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. November 29; the Casselberry Senior Center, Casselberry, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. December 1; One Senior Place, Viera, in Brevard County, from 9 a.m. to noon, December 5 and the Oakridge YMCA, Orlando, from 9 a.m. to noon, December 7.
