Local Foundation Provides Hurricane Relief Funds to Red Cross
The Winter Park Health Foundation today presented $50,000 to the American Red Cross of Central Florida to help the agency provide relief for Hurricane Katrina victims who have been displaced to Central Florida.
“Central Florida knows a bit about the pain that accompanies hurricane devastation because we had some first-hand experience last year with hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne,” said Allan Keen, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Winter Park Health Foundation. “We hope this donation will help the Red Cross care for the physical health and emotional wellness of those who have lost their homes and been devastated by Katrina,” he added.
“We are so glad the Red Cross is here to help, and we want to make sure they have the means to do so,” Keen said. “They played a critical role in relief efforts last year, and they are doing so again this year.”
“The Foundation is pleased to be able to offer hurricane relief funds as it has done in the past, and we hope it will inspire other groups to do the same,” he said.
The Winter Park Health Foundation is a private not-for-profit organization
based in Winter Park, Florida supporting programs that improve the health of children and youth, older adults and the uninsured. It also conducts research and provides education on health issues affecting all of these groups.
