JACK LA LANNE TO HELP LAUNCH VITAL LIVING 2004: FOCUS ON FITNESS

Fitness fireball Jack La Lanne, who has made a career of living better and longer through exercise and good eating, will launch Vital Living 2004: Focus on Fitness on Wednesday, June 9 at the Orlando Expo Centre, 500 West Livingston Street in Downtown Orlando.

Perhaps best known for his ground-breaking televised exercise program from the 1950s, the 89-year-old La Lanne, and his wife Elaine, will help event sponsors kick off a 20-week fitness series based on the book, "Active Living Every Day." The book provides readers a step-by-step plan for getting active and making healthy lifestyle changes.

The celebration also will feature an exhibit hall with health-oriented booths. Visitors can browse through the exhibit hall from noon to 4 p.m. The program with Jack La Lanne begins at 1 p.m.

General-admission tickets are available for $10 per person and include a copy of the book "Active Living Every Day" for the first 1,000 attendees, as well as free parking at the TD Waterhouse Centre.

Vital Living 2004: Focus on Fitness is sponsored by the Winter Park Health Foundation, Orange County, the City of Orlando, the Senior Resource Alliance and the Central Florida YMCA.

Tickets are on sale at the Maitland Senior Center, Central Florida Regional Hospital, the Retired Senior & Volunteer Program office at the Marks Street Senior Center, the Winter Park Health Foundation, the Senior Resource Alliance and the Crosby Center YMCA. Tickets also can be purchased at Fashion Square Mall from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Lifesteps check-in desk near Dillard's department store.

In addition, those who want to reserve tickets can send checks to the Winter Park Health Foundation, P.O. Box 2647, Winter Park, FL 32790, and pick up the tickets at the will-call desk on the day of the event.

For more information on the event, call 407-228-1803.
