Healthy Communities Initiative Receives 18 Proposals for WPHF Support
The Winter Park Health Foundation (WPHF), within a month of awarding the first grants as part of its Think~Act~Be Healthy Communities initiative, has received 18 detailed proposals requesting $791,138.
Members of the Healthy Communities Planning Committee reviewed the proposalsand staff recommendationsand met on March 21 to prepare their recommendations for funding through the WPHF Community Health Policy Work Group.
The Work Group will meet April 2 to consider the recommendations and vote on grant awards. Public grant announcements will follow a few days later.
WPHF’s Healthy Communities Initiative was designed to inspire individuals and groups from Eatonville, Maitland and Winter Park to submit ideas to improve the health of their communities. The ideas were to focus on encouraging physical activity, promoting healthy eating and/or reducing tobacco use.
One hundred ideas were submitted. Thirty seven of those submitting ideas were invited to submit a comprehensive application for grant funding. This resulted in 18 proposals.
There is $300,000 available for this pilot round of grant rewards.
