Lifelong Learning Institute
The WPHF continued to support the Lifelong Learning Institute, anchored at the Winter Park Public Library. It provides learning opportunities primarily aimed at those 55 and older. This grant includes expansion of the Spellbinders chapter.
Florida Pioneer Network
The Foundation-funded Pioneer Network hopes to build a nurturing environment for the people who live and work in long-term care facilities through education and policy change.
Wisdom Works
WPHF has provided grants money to Seniors First to develop Wisdom-Works which recruits and trains volunteer peer coaches who assist older adults in getting ready for and finding meaningful jobs.
Project Imagination Intergenerational Literacy Program
This unique program, a collaborative effort between the Children/Youth and Older Adults Work Groups, matches older adult mentors with elementary school children to encourage the children to become better readers, writers and communicators when they participate in story-telling clubs.
Intergenerational Pre-K ProjectOTTER
OTTER, which stands for Older Teachers Training Early Readers, is an innovative pre-K reading readiness program that provides trained older adult reading readiness coaches to pre-school programs. The program, operated by Foster Grandparents of Central Florida,
Community Care Teams
Funds are provided to support the replication of the Community Care Team model in faith communities in the area. The teams provide free practical assistance--such as transportation, to the frail, elderly, ill and injured.
Elder Transportation Council
WPHF funds support the ongoing development of the Elder Transportation Council.
Independent Transportation Network
WPHF has been a strong supporter of the development and operation of the Independent Transportation Network (ITNOrlando) in Orlando. Using private automobiles and both volunteer and paid drivers, the ITNOrlando transports community members 24 hours a day, seven days a week anywhere within the ITNOrlando service area.
Older Adults Community Website
Foundation funds were used to develop a user-friendly website featuring comprehensive information about services and programs for older adults. Seniorresourcealliance.org is maintained by the Senior Resource Alliance.
Medicare Awareness Outreach Program
WPHF funded this program to continue to educate the public about the Medicare Prescription Drug Program.
Centralized Senior Services Feasibility Study
This funded project involves a study to examine the feasibility of having multiple older adult agencies and service providers located in a single facility.
Mobility Forum II
WPHF helped fund and co-sponsor a forum focused on transportion issues affecting older adults.
